How to Schedule a Patient who is Transferred to OD Triage by the Call Center Screener

The following training document will walk you through to schedule a patient who is transferred to OD Triage by the Call Center screener. There are three different workflows.

Workflow #1

  1. Patient answers positive for suicide or homicide and is transferred to OD triage.

  2. OD determines patient should go to external (but no BHI in system)

  3. OD transfers patient back to the call center. Call center inputs MRN, completes screener with patient and if screened for external referral will be prompted to book external appointment at conclusion of screener. Please note the following criteria for this:

  • Patient must have had a screener in the last 24 hours where the outcome triggered a SUI alert to a HARM alert and the patient was sent to OD Triage.

    • If the patient triggered SUI alert (the patient was sent to OD Triage), the current screener skips the SUI questions and asks the next appropriate question in the screener.

      • Note: in this scenario the patient WOULD be asked the harm question.

    • If patient triggered HARM alert (the patient was sent to OD Triage), the current screener skips the HARM question and asks the next appropriate question in the screener.

Workflow #2

  1. Patient answers positive for suicide or homicide and is transferred to OD triage.

  2. OD determines patient should go to external (but no BHI in system).

  3. OD can go to Provider Availability report under the REPORTS tab to find a provider.

  4. Go to Patient Profile Page.

  5. Select VISITS tab then select +ADD VISIT.

  6. Create appointment.

Workflow #3

  1. Patient answers positive for suicide or homicide and is transferred to OD triage

  2. OD determines patient should go to external (no BHI in system).

  3. OD completes TPI assessment with patient then sends patient to call center to be booked.

  4. Go to Patient Profile Page.

  5. Scroll down to ASSESSMENTS tab. Select +ADD ASSESSMENT.

  6. Select Site, Assessment Type (TPI or Y-TPI) and view (Launch Onsite for Patient). Select ADD ASSESSMENT.

  7. Complete assessment by proctoring to patient.

  8. After TPI has been completed, Call Center agent can book the patient for an appointment with an external provider.
